Stamped concrete is everywhere in Gran Canaria. Over the years it loses colour and shine, stains and fills with algae in the pattern grooves.
Why it deteriorates
The colour sits in the surface layer, protected by a resin or sealer. Sun, water and use wear the resin away; once it's gone, the concrete absorbs dirt, fades and algae gets into the grooves.
The most common mistake: too much pressure
High pressure close up strips the colour and leaves wand marks that can't be hidden. Use moderate pressure, constant distance and a product that loosens the dirt first.
How it's restored
1. Technical cleaning with the right product and controlled pressure.
2. Algae treatment in the grooves.
3. Complete drying.
4. A new clear or tinted sealer to restore colour, shine and protection.
FAQ
Can the colour be brought back?
Often, yes, with a good clean and fresh sealer. If the base colour is very worn, a tinted sealer is an option.
